This website was created by Yvette Hoitink from the Netherlands. Yvette has a keen interest in local history, genealogy and cartography. While researching an article about silk maps for her Dutch cartography website, she found that one such map was being auctioned of at Ebay. After posting the winning bid she was the proud owner of the escape map used by Tom Osborne. Included in the sale were personal papers of Tom Osborne including his high school diploma, a crew photograph and a Might Eighth Airforce patch. The previous owner got the items at a local swap meet in California.

Yvette received the items in May, 2008. She has been investigating the story behind the map ever since, both online and offline.
